Data snapshot: Insurers have embraced ESG, says Goldman Sachs

The survey reflects opinions from global insurance investors representing $13trn in assets.

Nine out of 10 global insurance investors consider ESG throughout their investment process, according to a survey from Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Overall, Asian investors led the way with 100 percent of investors responding that ESG factors into investment decision making, while 98 percent of LPs from Europe, the Middle East and Africa said ESG is a “primary” consideration, according to the survey.

The report, which surveyed 328 executives representing $13 trillion in assets, found that 98 percent of respondents planned to increase or maintain allocations to private markets investment strategies, according to GSAM. The respondents represent around half of the global private market for insurance capital providers.
