Just Climate, the investment firm established last year by Generation Investment Management, has appointed Justin Adams as its head of partnerships.

Adams will join Just Climate in April to develop partnerships with “industry participants, like-minded investors and other relevant actors”, the firm said in a statement. He is currently co-director of nature-based solutions and executive director of tropical forest alliance at the World Economic Forum. He previously served on BP Alternative Energy’s executive team.

Just Climate is “trying to create a new climate transition asset class” to invest in a future in which global warming is limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius, the firm told New Private Markets upon its formation in October 2021. The firm is planning to launch several multi-strategy funds focused on the hardest-to-abate sectors, including energy, transportation and mobility, buildings and industry. Former US vice-president Al Gore serves as chair of the firm’s climate impact advisory group.

The firm’s existing “strategic partners” are Harvard, which has assets worth $53.2 billion; the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, which has assets worth €12.7 billion; IMAS Foundation, which has assets worth €11 billion; the Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund; and Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Imprint Group.
