In brief: Investcorp initiates portco carbon footprinting

The multi-strategy asset manager calculated its own carbon footprint in 2021 and is now working on that of its portfolio companies.

Bahrain-headquartered investment manager Investcorp has initiated “bottom-up carbon emissions footprint assessments of a selection” of its majority-owned portfolio companies in North America, the firm said. It has also started a project to estimate the magnitude of carbon emissions across its entire portfolio of investments “and identify where more focused attention may be required.”

Investcorp referenced the measures in its 2021 ESG report (available here), which also includes the firm’s Scopes 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions reporting and various other ESG initiatives, calculated for the first time last year. The firm has $37.6 billion in assets under management, most of which is in credit management strategies, private equity, real estate and hedge funds.
