Hines appoints decarbonisation exec for real estate

Michael Izzo, Hines’s first carbon strategy VP, will help the firm ‘create carbon standards’ for real estate.

Real estate firm Hines has appointed Michael Izzo its first carbon strategy vice-president.

Hines is “embarking on creating carbon standards for the built environment”, Peter Epping, global head of ESG, said in a statement. The firm has a mission to “drastically reduce the environmental impact of its properties, including operational and embodied carbon”.

Izzo joins a growing ESG team: Hines appointed Epping as global head of ESG in June 2021 and Daniel Chang as European head of ESG earlier this month.

New York-based Izzo was previously a vice-president for construction at Hines.
