In brief: Amazonia Impact Ventures targets ‘catalytic investors’ for $25m fund

The debt fund will use a blended model to target foundations, family offices, high-net-worth individuals.

Impact investor Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV) is seeking to raise $25 million for impact investments focused on protecting the Amazon Rainforest.

Over the last two and a half years AIV has been investing the founders’ capital into  indigenous enterprises and SMEs across the supply chain for responsibly grown commodities across Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, said co-founder Pajani Singah.

The firm is looking to raise capital initially from “catalytic investors”, Singah told New Private Markets. “It’s more catalytic money in terms of foundations, family offices, high-net-worth and maybe some institutions, but I imagine institutions will follow after these guys come in.”

Singah said the the fund will seek to generate “investment grade returns”.
