In brief: Ambienta launches impact credit fund

The Article 9 fund will issue corporate loans to businesses providing products or services that use resources more efficiently or reduce pollution.

Environmental impact fund Ambienta has launched its first credit fund. The Article 9 fund will issue corporate loans to businesses “providing products or services that use resources more efficiently or reduce pollution”, Ambienta said in an emailed statement.

The new strategy should not come as a total surprise to New Private Markets readers: founder Nino Tronchetti (pictured) told us last year that it planned to expand beyond its private equity roots into other asset classes, with the launch of a product in early 2023.  The firm’s ambition is to become a one-stop-shop investment partner for environmental sustainability. It closed its flagship fourth private equity fund at €1.55 billion in 2022.

The new credit strategy will be led by former CVC Credit senior MD Ran Landmann, who joins Ambienta as partner and CIO. He is joined by Nishan Srinivasan, former MD and global co-head of leveraged finance origination at Credit Suisse, as Ambienta’s head of origination.
