Who verifies the verifiers? BlueMark, which provides verification services to the impact investing industry, has attained B Corp certification, the firm said on Wednesday.

“We know that in order to hold our clients accountable, we must also be willing to hold ourselves accountable,” said Christina Leijonhufvud, CEO and co-founder of BlueMark, in a statement.

B Corp certification involves an independent evaluation of a company’s social and environmental performance, and is sought by organisations from various sectors, including some private fund firms, which either pursue certification themselves or encourage portfolio companies to do so.
