In brief: GIIN launches impact benchmark for agriculture

Benchmark allows impact investors to ‘quickly identify what strong performance looks like and direct their capital towards more effective solutions’.

The Global Impact Investing Network has created a performance benchmark for agriculture sector impact investments. This is the second benchmark hosted by GIIN’s IRIS+ platform for measuring and comparing impact data; the organisation released a financial inclusion benchmark last year.

Investors and managers can benchmark their performance to “their peers, prior periods or the scale of the social and environmental challenge”, GIIN’s chief research officer, Dean Hand, said in a statement. The benchmark allows investors to “quickly identify what strong performance looks like and direct their capital towards more effective solutions”.

The benchmark was developed using impact data from 15 investment managers including EQT Partners, AXA Investment Managers and Singapore’s ABC Impact.
