In brief: Impax JV to invest in decentralised renewables

The tie-up with a German technology firm will initially invest in Germany.

Impax Asset Management, the multi-strategy manager that specialises in the energy transition, has inked a joint venture with German technology firm Bullfinch Asset to invest in decentralised clean energy projects, according to an announcement today.

What we know:

  • The JV, named Greenfinch, will invest in energy solutions based on solar panels, batteries and smart meters in the residential and commercial and industrial sectors, initially only in Germany.
  • The projects will use Bullfinch’s platform, “which enables the bundling, financing, standardisation and management of sustainable building and facilities infrastructure”, the firm says.
  • The investment comes from Impax’s New Energy Investors IV fund, NPM understands, which held a first close on €238 million in October 2021.

What we have yet to find out:

  • The size of the joint venture.
