In brief: Initiative Climat International releases net-zero pathway guidance

ICI, a private equity-focused decarbonisation group hosted by the UN’s PRI, urges PE firms to set net-zero targets.

Initiative Climate International has produced guidance for firms to set and meet portfolio-level net-zero targets. ICI is a decarbonisation group for private equity investors and managers hosted by the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment.

The guidance is the third part of a whitepaper that makes the case for private equity firms to set net-zero targets for 2050 or earlier and answers common questions around the topic. It was authored by iCI’s Net Zero Working Group, which is co-chaired by Investindustrial’s Serge Younes, Bregal Investments’ Alvar De Wolff and Turenne Capital’s Josepha Montana.

The document also provides a list of other net zero and decarbonisation guides and resources available to private equity firms, including the TCFD’s “Implementation Considerations For Private Equity Firms”, the Science-based Targets Initiative’s guide for private equity and the IIGCC’s Net Zero Investment Framework.
