In brief: Just Climate recruits Morgan Stanley alum for partner

Generation IM impact offshoot Just Climate adds Tushar Kumar as its third senior appointment in four months.

Tushar Kumar, Just Climate

Just Climate, the impact firm established last year by Generation Investment Management, has recruited Tushar Kumar as a partner.

Kumar was previously a partner on Kerogen Capital’s portfolio management team, focused on energy assets. Prior to that, he was an executive director in Morgan Stanley’s natural resources investment banking group and an associate in JPMorgan’s Natural Resources investment banking group.

Just Climate is “trying to create a new climate transition asset class”, the firm’s chief investment officer Shaun Kingsbury told New Private Markets at its launch in October 2021. It plans to launch sector-focused funds in four hard-to-abate sectors: energy, transportation and mobility, buildings and industry. The firm will consider debt, growth equity, venture capital, real asset development and real asset management strategies for these funds.

Since its launch, the firm has recruited senior partner Clara Barby from the Impact Management Project and Bridges Fund Management, and head of partnerships Justin Adams from the World Economic Forum.
