In brief: Mirova appoints first PE head of impact

The $21.7bn French asset manager has hired Rothschild & Co’s former managing director Marc Romano.

Paris-headquartered asset manager Mirova has appointed Marc Romano as its first head of impact for private equity funds, Romano announced in a LinkedIn post. Romano will “help the firm develop a new business unit in the coming months”, reported Citywire, which broke the news.

Romano, who is based in Paris, was a managing director of impact private equity and ESG at Rothschild & Co until last October, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has also worked at Schroders, was a managing director at AXA and sat on the executive committee of Credit Suisse.

Mirova has $21.7 billion in assets under management and is currently fundraising for its fifth energy transition fund, which has a €1 billion target, according to affiliate title Infrastructure Investor’s database. Mirova took the 43rd spot in Infrastructure Investor’s Top 50 ranking of GPs last year. It manages private equity and fixed income funds and a number of funds for listed equity, its website shows. The asset manager is also recruiting an ESG analyst.
