In brief: Natural capital shop hires legal counsel

Amy Merrill will help 'to establish natural capital as an asset class' in her new role at Climate Asset Management.

Amy Merrill, a former lawyer for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, is joining Climate Asset Management, the joint venture between HSBC Asset Management and Pollination, according to a press release.

Climate Asset Management is an early mover in the natural capital space, which is set to grow as organisations begin to access carbon credits to help reach net-zero targets. Christof Kutscher, chief executive officer, said: “Amy’s experience and role in shaping the regulatory framework for international cooperation in respect of Nationally Determined Contributions and mitigation including carbon offsetting will help to establish natural capital as an asset class.”
