In brief: Ring Capital launches €40m impact seed fund with French business school

The fund, called Generations Powered by EDHEC, will invest in 'socially and environmentally responsible start-ups'.

Ring Capital and French business school EDHEC have launched an impact venture capital fund.

The fund, titled Generations Powered by EDHEC, will seek to make seed and pre-seed investments in 40 “socially and environmentally responsible start-ups” that are providing solutions to the “world’s most pressing challenges”.

In managing the fund, Ring Capital will “identify, finance and support” entrepreneurs, per a statement. EDHEC is the fund’s anchor investor: it will provide up to €20 million through the EDHEC Business School Foundation, half of the fund’s €40 million overall target.

Parisian manager Ring Capital was launched in 2018, and has about €500 million in assets under management across three different strategies, ranging from pre-seed to growth equity. It is seeking €300 million for its growth equity strategy targeting “the intersection of digital and impact”.
