Hanna Loikkanen, a veteran of banking and private equity in Russia and Eastern Europe, has been appointed CIO of Finland’s development finance institution, Finnfund (press release here).

Finnfund puts up to €250 million to work each year, both directly and through fund structures. It has backed managers such as New Forests and Finance in Motion, according to our database. The investor’s focus sectors include renewable energy, sustainable forestry, sustainable agriculture, financial institutions, and digital infrastructure and solutions, it said.

Loikkanen spent over 11 years in senior positions for private equity firm East Capital in Moscow, latterly as senior managing director. She left East Capital in 2019 and in the following year became a Finnfund board member.
