It is now just days until NEXUS 2024, a private equity-focused meeting on a grand scale. Happening next week in Orlando, it’s the inaugural instalment of an annual summit hosted by New Private Markets‘ parent company PEI Group.

The speaker-list is well worth a look. If you can’t make a last-minute trip to Orlando, it might be worth marking your calendar for 2025.

New Private Markets – alongside our affiliate titles in PE, VC, private debt, secondaries and other segments – is hosting a stream of discussions, chaired by Toby Mitchenall. Here’s what we are looking forward to:

  • At the fireside with Rubenstein: No topic is off limits with co-founder and co-chairman of Carlyle David Rubenstein (except perhaps his pending ownership of the Baltimore Orioles). Have a sustainability-flavoured question you want us to put to him? Let us know at toby.m@pei.group.
  • Fiduciary duty and sustainability: We’ll be sitting down with Ken Pontarelli of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Anna Totdahl of Oregon State Treasury to assess the political winds of change, and ask how ESG and sustainability remain part of a fiduciary investor’s remit, even as it becomes a political football.
  • The evolution of impact: New York State Common Retirement Fund‘s Andrew Siwo (one of our sustainable private markets influencers) in conversation with the founder’s of Trill Impact and Vision Ridge Partners (two Impact 50 managers) about the direction of travel for impact investing. It should be a meaningful discussion about the future: NYSCRF is home to arguably the largest pool of sustainability-aligned investment capital in the world.
  • Employee ownership: Something tells us this initiative will keep popping up through the event; we’ll be front row for the “how to” session with ESOP experts from JPMorgan, Stout and Go ESOP.
  • Energy transition: How is private capital going to help drive decarbonisation? We’ll be asking the leaders of Energy Impact Partners, Hy24, Energy Capital Partners and Nuveen’s Glennmont Partners.
