And it is not just because we are gearing up for the Impact Investor Summit: North America in New York next week. On that: the NPM editorial team will be there – on stage and on the floor networking – and looking forward to connecting with contacts old and new.

The second source of excitement is the launch of our inaugural global awards.

Private markets investing has come a long way in terms of sustainability. Firms and limited partners are now both home to significant ESG expertise in the form of experienced professionals and institutional knowledge. Hard, comparable data on ESG performance is increasingly available to LPs, and the sophistication of “playbooks” developed by GPs to drive value and manage risks at portfolio companies is growing.

At the same time, the impact investment universe has expanded, spawning strategies with deep sector focuses covering all aspects of people and planet. Limited partners can access managers targeting non-concessionary rates of return in strategies aligned with their sustainability objectives.

We want to shine a spotlight on the leading examples.

To that end, this week we have invited you – whether ESG professional or impact investor – to tell us why your organisation should be shortlisted in one of our 16 categories. Your submissions are a valuable source of information for the NPM editorial team as we compile the shortlists, which are then opened up to a reader vote conducted throughout December.
